Hey everyone - I’m Chris from the blog Surviving Myself.
\
\
Jenn gave me the honor of guest posting for her today, and because we all know she loves technology and gadgets and all that kind of stuff, I thought I’d tell you about my favorite thing that technology has brought us. \’a0This idea narrowly beat out me posting about how I think roaches must be lonely, so be thankful for that.
\
\
Let’s talk about texting.
\
\
I know.
\
\
You’re thinking, “Uh, Chris, that’s not exactly new or anything.” \’a0But you don’t understand:\’a0 I am not very tech-savvy, so when this came into my life many years ago, it made a huge impact on me.
\
\
First of all, I suddenly had the ability to bestow Nuggets Of Wisdom on all of my friends without ever having to actually talk to them.
\
\
No more having to speak to someone in order to tell them that I thought Teen Wolf was the most underrated movie of all time - now I could just mash a couple buttons and everyone knew how I felt!
\
\
No more getting wasted and drunk-dialing - now I had drunk-texting!
\
\
Instead of an ex-girlfriend having to listen to me rant about how “life was great back then, man” at 3:45 a.m., now she could simply wake up in the morning to find this on her screen: “lif was grit buok thrn”
\
\
Brilliant!
\
\
Also, I was finally able to avoid contact with those people I kind of like, but not enough to actually have a conversation with.
\
\
You know those friends.\’a0 Everyone has them. \’a0You “accidentally” miss their calls and they “accidentally” miss yours.
\
\
But because I had texting, I could simply send “Hey how’d vacation go?” and be set for months! \’a0And of course they wouldn’t reply, because that’s another beauty of texting: The old “oh - you texted me? \’a0I never got it!” excuse. \’a0Works like a charm.
\
\
Texting has really made my life much better.
\
\
It’s a quick and easy way to keep in contact/not keep in contact with people, and we have The Lovely World Of Technology to thank for it.
\
\
Now, about those roaches…
