I’ve seen many of you popping over to Guidespot to comment on my guides. I really appreciate all of your support!!
I wanted to take a few minutes to explain how Guidespot works. While comments are great, you can actually contribute to the community guides and be a part of the action! Since the site can be a bit intimidating to new comers (I was very overwhelmed) I thought I’d break it down here for those who want to be more active within the Guidespot community.
When you go to Guidespot you’ll be looking at their home page. There you will find the most recent guides and community guides. Community guides are the ones where you can contribute without being the author. When you open up a community guide, you will see this menu along the top of it.

From here you’ll want to click on + Add to this Guide. Clicking on that will change the page so you can edit it. You won’t be able to change what’s already there, but instead of just replying with a comment, you can insert a photo, link, address, etc. with your reply. It will be in the guide itself and not just under the comments page! You, your guides and your blog get more exposure as people come across your contribution and click on your profile to find out more!
When in Edit Mode, the following menu will be along the right column. This is how you add your image, text or website link.

Once you’ve added your reply, you can either click preview or close the page. Your contribution will now be among the rest! Those of you who have joined the spot, I look forward to seeing your contributions around the site, as well as your guides if you choose to create any. If you haven’t signed up yet, what are you waiting for?
