As a person who wen't through a very similar situation where one of my best friends passed away from cancer last year, I can tell you if that's the case, it's never easy. Cancer sucks, but you just have to support your dude in the same way he's obviously been there for you and roll with the punches. I don't know if you've learned anything new about the situation since the time of your writing but I suppose that although the future looks quite uncertain, there's always hope in the end. You're a great person and I'm sure your guy is too, so just try to be yourselves and have fun because regardless of what the future may hold, what matters most is right now. I get it, sounds corny to say things like living for the moment and we can't really do that all the time, but you just have to keep a smile on your face! You shouldn't be afraid of something you don't know enough about yet, and above all just have fun with life. If you can do that, then maybe anything is possible.
