Last night I officially decided that I am going through my quarter-life crisis. It’s the only explanation for the major freak out I’m dealing with. Of course this warrants some soul searching and being a blogger, well, I began exploring blogs. I came across Kim’s post and I definitely stole her idea. So thanks Kim. You definitely brought my freak out down from a level 6 to a level 3.
Jobs I Could Not Have
1) A Judge (or juror). I’m easily swayed. I watch those law shows where the defense gives you their side and then the prosecution gives their side and before it ends, you have to decide if he’s guilty or not. I’m always like he did it! Then the next side will speak and I’ll be like it was the grandmother! Moral of the story: Don’t put anyone’s life in my hands.
2) Preschool teacher. Kids have sticky hands. They drool, poop and scream. I lack the patience and immune system to handle that.
3) Librarian. I love books. I love the smell of books. I love seeing shelves and shelves full of books. I love hearing people flip through pages. I do not, however, love being quiet. I have a very hard time speaking with an indoor voice sometimes – especially when I find something funny.
4) Professional Poker Player. You DID read my Vegas story, right?
5) Technology Recycler. I just watched an episode of Dirty Jobs where Mike was working in an electronic recycling facility. At first I’d be game. Mocking the technology that froze up on me would be great. But then I’d find myself trying to sneak out TVs, hard drives and cell phones. It wouldn’t be good.
Speaking of technology, don’t forget about the HP Pavilion dm3 giveaway!
Keep tweeting, blogging and commenting!

I was thinking about all of your screennames yesterday. Some are really hilarious. Some of you have been using the same one for 10 years, which baffles me. I have username ADD. That got me wondering if any of you name your laptop/computer.
I named my very first Macbook, Pancake.

I’ve been staring a lot of your posts as inspiration lately. You rock.

I have username ADD too. All the time. For years. It’s actually a running joke now between my friends and myself, heh.
I do name my electronics. My barely-functional laptop (like I said, I have to prop the screen up with a dictionary, or it falls… plus it sounds like it’s grinding something) is named Gizmo the WonderComp.
Yea… I have too much time on my hands.

It’s really sad that your computer requires propping. My fingers are crossed for you! As for your computer’s name, I kind of love it!

I don’t know why I named it. I have another computer, but I didn’t name that one. Why the macbook is so special, who knows?

I’ve had the same screen name and eamil account since my sister set it up for me when I was a sophmore in highschool. And I haven’t ever named my computer, but I name every car. Cars run better when you name them, then you can talk to them like they are real. Hmm come to think of it, I should name my computer

I give a lot of my technology monkey names. I’ve had spanky and bubbles and monkey king and quite a few others.
My Mom keeps trying to name my truck. I won’t let her.

it’s from a poster advertising the play “la verbena de la paloma”, which used to hang at my college. the name reminds me of undergrad and my awesome senior year

Hopefully it doesn’t mean something horrible!

I haven’t named any of my computers, but I have named all the cameras I’ve owned (to date: Meow, Bolly, Darling, Angelo and Big Fat Maggie Junior)…
For some reason the computers I’ve had are for so many diverse things that they never struck me as having a personality…
Also, my screen name for years and years was clickfoot, which I still use for sites that request nicknames. It’s a reference to my tap dancing. Only problem at the time was that everyone who wanted to email me would ask ‘are you still using your bigfoot address?’

Also, being a technology recycler might make me cry. I couldn’t do that either.

I also think you shouldn’t be a bus driver, or any driving vocation in which throwing a koopa shell isn’t an acceptable course of action.
My first laptop was named “Stupid piece of time-wasting shit”. And yes, it was a Dell.

I work in a library and it’s really not quiet at all. It’s funny, because people will come up to the desk and whisper their questions and I will answer in my normal voice and yet they will continue to whisper!
I couldn’t be a judge either. I’d never reach a decision.

Sweet list. I know for sure I can’t be a doctor. Imagine all those super difficult books, and I’m bad at any science subjects. Not to mention it’s super serious and not at all like tv show scrubs. Scrubs gives me wrong impressions on doctors and their jobs. But I like to wear the labcoats at least once puhlease.

My laptop’s name is Mandy Con. Yeah…both a last name and first name. Ms. Con if I’m mad at her.
I was forced to buy some kind of crappy laptop for school. I didn’t really want to, as I in fact have a bad-ass desktop and I am fine with using pencil and paper for notes – it prevents internet surfing. Anyway, during setup when I had to name the computer, I fit my version of “Mandatory Convenience” into the ten letter box. Later versions have kept the same name.
