You know what grinds my gears?
Birth control commercials. Specifically Nuva Ring. Why? Well first there’s that annoying song “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday … Everyday!” It’s impossible to not sing along. I catch myself humming that tune often, too. Get out of my head!
Second, the newest commercial features girlfriends sitting around watching the commercial when one asks the others if they’d consider using it. Then she launches into a sales pitch. Who talks like that?! If someone asked me about birth control I wouldn’t start discussing the levels of hormones as if I’m reading from the pamphlet it comes with.
If you discuss hormones with your gal pals, that’s fine. But this commercial (and others like it) freak me out a bit. I can’t explain it.
Don’t judge me.
(Side note: This is not meant to discourage anyone from using the product. I’m very happy with Nuva Ring, I just think the commercial is silly.)

I always think the same thing when the lady starts the pitch. If my friend said that to me, I’m not even sure how I would react.

There was one for Yaz that was similar, except there was an EXTRA awkward girl who talked about the medical risks and how you should talk to your doctor. They tried to make it okay by having one of her friends comment on her random medical speech, but it was still really, REALLY weird.

I agree, I think those commercials are silly too. You can tell they are going back to correct what they originally said because it was misleading. That or maybe I’m missing out on the BC talk with my girlfriends

nuva ring freaks me out.
especially when they describe it as “comfortable.”
i mean, seriously? i don’t believe it’s COMFORTABLE. i’d go with NOT UNCOMFORTABLE, at best.
although i’ve never tried it. i’m just speculating.

Those commercials are pretty odd.
This might be personal, but have you used the Nuva Ring? I take the pill, but I’m considering other options of birth control.

Aren’t all birth control commercials just a little awkward? Like the KY ones. Sex and subtly just come out all awkward and weird.

I know KY isn’t birth control but those commercials make me feel squeamish.

Great, now the jingle’s stuck in my head, haha.

Yeah, they’re totally awkward. I think it has something to do with the fact that they’re legally required to talk about medical risks if they name the product specifically, something like that.
But I’m with you. I’m a fan of the product. Good thing for peeps like me who don’t do so well with remembering to do the same thing every day at the same time.

if i had a friend that talked like that i’d have to ask her to politely either stop or leave.

I thought this sounded quite interesting until they started listing all the possible side effects, then I freaked out.
I think my main problem with the advert (which I have never seen before) is that is just so woodenly acted.

I liked when the awkward Yaz girl had to go back to the rooftop party when the FDA got all bent out of shape that she gave bogus information in the first awkward rooftop party commercial.

They don’t quite freak me out, but they are indeed terribly unrealistic.
