The one where I was physically removed from Target

by freeandflawed on August 31, 2009

On Saturday I did some very last minute shopping for my aunt’s bridal shower. Having located a gift almost immediately, I decided to wander around the store a bit. I walked past a family with FIVE kids who were shopping for school supplies. I saw their cart and it was filled to the brim with binders, notebooks, markers, looseleaf paper, etc. I. Was. In. Heaven.

The best part of school starting, for me at least, was going shopping for school supplies. Back in the day it involved trapper keepers and Lisa Frank folders and notebooks. These days I’d settle for the Jonas Brothers – I kid. There’s something fun about picking out new notebooks and flipping through the sheets of unused lines.

My mom, who knows me well, called me while I was perusing the Back to School aisles and basically threatened me if I didn’t leave.

Awesome.

I'm addicted to notebooks and pens… it's been so hard to not hit up the B2S aisles…. so far, so good…

I suffer the same disease, and will resist any intervention with brutal force. ;)

I loved back to school supply shopping too! I have a 9 year old brother, and so I volunteer to do the shopping for him. I'm so lucky! :)

I saw Lisa Frank stuff in Target the other day. Holy hell is that stuff ugly. I still felt nostalgic seeing it though. Also, I think that I need to treat myself to some new markers. :p

Trapper Keepers! I had totally forgotten about those. Maybe I can find one for my first day of grad school . . .

I love shopping for school supplies!!! I remember in elementary school, I wanted Lisa Frank stuff SOOO badly, but my parents never got it for me. I did win a Lisa Frank crayon tin in a class contest once, though. ***insert joy here***

Stationary shopping always made me happy too. I always pick out the prettiest glittery binders and such hahaha. Also with the cute looking pens and stuff.

Yeah I would get jealous too of those kids with new pencils, pens and notebooks. Gosh I need to get textbooks for work and cover them with paper so I can write “Jessica + X = True Love”

wow I feel better knowing I was not the only 3rd grader who was geeked about everything Lisa Frank; and new school supplies, was there anything better? I couldn’t wait to get home and open everything and set it up in my trapper keeper! I even liked the smell of the new stuff. Maybe I’ve said too much (ps- I still love office supplies and I’m 28) Honestly if I could find the 80s Lisa Frank stuff I would buy it, and I agree the new stuff is ugly- its too anime-like.
