I don’t want to grow up

by freeandflawed on June 15, 2009

I spent my Sunday afternoon reminiscing embarrassing childhood stories with family members (Click here for some awesome childhood stories.) Though the stories were fun, it wasn’t until my cousin brought out a small blue box that I lit up with excitement. It was full of Little Mermaid dolls, including the original.

I was thrilled to say the least. I ran over to the patio, sat down, and began dressing up, dressing down and brushing Ariel’s hair. When my aunt came outside to tell us it was time for cake, I yelled, “But I’m not done playing!!” I think I may have even pouted as I stomped inside.

Yes, I will be 25 in (exactly) a month.

Do you have any childhood stories or toys that still get you excited?

First of all, that was an awesome. I could picture this ““But I’m not done playing!!” I think I may have even pouted as I stomped inside. ”

You’re still too young, but I get to play with toys again now that I have kids of my own. It’s a nice perk. Also, I recently discovered one of my favorite books as a kid “Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel” and have been reading that to my daughter.

Finally, my daughter plays with my old G.I. Joes when we visit my parents. She has them pretending to shop at to the grocery store and stuff like that, but I guess even the Joes need to eat! :)

I still like coloring… I’m a teacher and I have my students color and sometimes I’ll spend time coloring when they’ve already scribbled on the page and are over it.

Oh and puzzles too. I like doing puzzles more than they do.

So sad.

OMG! I used to have a Little Mermaid doll! Love it! :)

When I go home these days, my cousin’s little girl comes over to visit, and she always finds something to pull out of the closet where my mom stored all of my old toys. Last time it was My Little Ponies…but I think it’s all pretty exciting (still…yikes!)

I totally had an Ariel doll just like that, I used to take it with me everywhere! It suffered a very unfortunate haircut after my male cousin got ahold of it. I used to have the little flounder and sebastian, too.

I was a terrible girly girl, a sucker for My Little Pony, Polly Pocket, and my Barbie Dreamhouse. All of them came with all sorts of fun accessories which were subsequently eaten by my cat.

I haven’t let go of my childhood! I go to Walt Disney World a few times every year, and I get giddy every time I see anything Beauty and the Beast related!

Okay…Disney related. I’ve been brainwashed. LOL

I was almost certainly in college while you were playing with these originally.

I don’t like this post. ;)

Polly Pocket, I’m still so excited with polly pocket. I used to bring a few to school and the whole girls in the class play together :)

My lil’ ponys or pound puppies will get me every time. Should I not mention that I still have a Snuggle bear (you know the ones from the laundry commercials) that my mom won at the Jewel instead of a cruise? No? Okay. Nevermind.
