AT&T tells the truth

by freeandflawed on April 16, 2009

AT&T boasts that it has fewer dropped calls than its competitors. That’s no secret. I’m here to tell you that it’s completely true. I know that in the past I’ve complained about AT&T dropping multiple calls and expressing my dislike for them, but all that has changed.

Recently I’ve discovered that AT&T is, in fact, telling the truth when they claim to have the least amount of dropped calls. Why is this? Because AT&T doesn’t let the call go through to begin with. That’s right, I’m talking about Failed Calls. You know how it goes: you dial the number, wait forever to hear the ring-ring* only to look at your phone and see the call failed before it even went through.

1d0632a404e2b4e03d41a80bae7f5e66

It never even had a chance!

So I apologize, AT&T, for getting so upset and calling you liars. I’ve learned my lesson and will now only refer to you as thieves – have you looked at your phone bill lately?! (Does not apply to all of you family planners – jerks.)

* Phones should ring, not play music when I’m calling you. How do you know what song I want to hear? If I have to hear TI’s “Whatever You Like” one more time when I’m making a call I’m going to find your phone and break it.

** I don’t know who Justin Buck is, but it’s impossible to take a picture of my call fail screen with my own iphone.

Those bastards.

Though the same issues occasionally crop up on Verizon, too. Not often, but it’s happened before.

Dude, I’ve never had a problem with AT&T, I feel so lucky when I hear other people say that kind of thing. Lots of problems with other carriers though, so I’ll stick with this one.

Hope they hear your pleas and do something about it, you know?

AT&T doesn’t even have service where I live. I used Verizon for about three years, and I’ve NEVER had a dropped call.

I have failed calls, but only on my Palm Centro. I’ve NEVER (not a single time) had a failed call on any other phone I’ve had with AT&T. I really think it’s my phone. I’ve had no other problems with them.

Seriously, I hate AT&T. I now have a Storm on the Verizon network, and I have never been happier. And you’re right. AT&T doesn’t drop calls that can never be made! Plus their network may be LARGE, but it’s also TERRIBLE.

Seriously peed my pants over this post. You are hysterical.

AT&T sucks and that is the only reason I do not own an iphone. I refuse to leave Verizon.

That’s awful. I’ve had Verizon for something like 4 years now and have had very few failed calls in that time. It happens but not often.

Ugh, I hate ringbacks! I do not want to listen to YOUR favorite song at the moment! It’s probably NOT mine. Or the bank’s…Or someone calling to ask you to come to a job interview.

Just so you know.

Lol….

hahah, I feel you on the ringbacks. Since it is easy to grab a screenshot of the iphone, you should start collecting the called failed screens from your phone… put it together and it’ll be the most popular collage on the net.

Hey, seeing as you also seem to have an iPhone, I’d really appreciate if you could read my latest post and give me some feedback on the iPhone, like what you like / don’t like about it or any problems you might’ve had with it (I’m considering getting one). Luckily in Germany the iPhone service provider is T-Mobile, so I won’t have to deal with AT&T’s failed or dropped calls. Thanks so much in advance!

I am intrigued about AT&T but I hear the service in Chicago is bad. Or it’s spotty for many.

Has anyone actually found a place in Chicago where AT&T coverage was anything more than spotty? For such a big city you would think the coverage would be great but that’s not the case sadly.

When I’m in Pittsburgh the coverage is always better, including the 3G network.

ps. I like in that pic you can clearly see the “no service” where the bars should be.

It’s sad, in college, I had the BEST phone service of anyone I knew. I had a dumpy candybar nokia phone, that magically got service in the cellular deadzone that is Indiana when NO ONE ELSE’S PHONE WOULD.

And now? If I’m not in a predetermined space? No service at all.

I have at&t and I’m really happy…but I”m easy to please considering we have like no service here anyway. I’m just used to it I guess.

I vote T-Mobile for least dropped calls. The only thing I have to remember to keep service squeaky clean is to power off my cell phone once in awhile – not sure why this work, but it usually cures anything.

Complain to Apple at apple.com/feedback !!!!
Tell them to add other providers and to stop allowing AT&T to hold their customers hostage!!!!!!!!!!

In the Washington, DC area AT&T is THE WORST – bar none!!!
An AT&T rep told me that they even if 95% of my calls fail, it’s not a AT&T problem as their contract exempts them from responsibility for service problems. Yep, that’s the AT&T we love. The second anyone else has the iPhone I’m out of there!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a truck driver, i haul chemicals to all 48 states…but mainly stay east of Texas. I have an Iphone 3gs. Most up to date software i can get installed. I can’t tell if it is the phone or ATT, but what i can tell you is that i get failed calls before and during phone calls all the damn time. I can understand if I am in the middle of no where and loose a signal. But that’s not the case. I get failed calls with full bars in Major cities all the time, all across America…ATT SUCKS
