What do you get when you mix bloggers, 20-somethings, alcohol and video games? A big ball of awesome!
The ever so lovely Jamie and I were asked by Brand About Town to host a Nintendo’s Girlfriend’s Guide to Gaming party. Obviously we replied with a very enthusiastic “super eff yeah!” I mean come on! It’s Nintendo! Just because the Wii yells at me and makes me feel like a porker doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it.
We held our party last Saturday and it was fabulous! I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but the evening couldn’t have turned out better. We had a fantastic mix of bloggers and other 20-somethings, including Jamie’s sister and a couple of my classmates. The loft space was gorgeous. If I could live there, I would!

The space was divided into four areas, each featuring a different Nintendo DS game for us to try.

Mario Kart and Guitar Hero were obvious favorites. I may or may not have yelled out “Thank you Chicago!!!” after finishing a song on Guitar Hero. I also might know something about two* bloggers going out and purchasing Guitar Hero the day after the party… Okay so I’m completely addicted to Guitar Hero. I am a rock god (only on easy – you throw in that fourth key and I freak out!!)
Brain Age 2 and Crosswords weren’t my favorite, but they could be fun when there’s a lot of time to kill. I’m a big fan of word searches, which are included in the Crosswords game. Brain Age was all sorts of mean. There are way too many numbers in that game! On a positive note, my brain age on Saturday was 53, compared to the 80 I received a couple weeks ago.

It seemed like everyone was having a lot of fun. There was plenty of laughter! It was nice to see those who aren’t into video games actually enjoying themselves while testing out one of the DS games. Of course there were two Wii consoles available for anyone who wanted to show off their bowling or tennis skills.
The photographer did an amazing job of capturing the evening. All of the photos can be found here. I didn’t even see this one (below) coming! Such a sneaky photographer.

Another HUGE thank you to Brand About Town and Nintendo!! If you ever need more games to be played or another excuse for a party, tweet me
And thanks again to all of the lovely ladies who attended our shindig! Hope you’re enjoying your DS!
* Yeah, one of those two is me.
