I’m not freaking out at all

by freeandflawed on February 20, 2009

Tonight I will be representing The Printed Blog at the Facebook Developer Garage in Chicago. I go on at 7:30. So in case you don’t have any hot plans tonight, you should swing by!

I’m giving a short presentation about where The Printed Blog came from and how we use social networks. It’s my first “real” speech in front of a crowd. I say “real” because the only other speeches I’ve given have been in high school. They don’t count! So I’m a wee bit nervous, but I’m also excited.

I’m finally doing something I truly love. There should be no doubt there because I wouldn’t devote so much time to just any random project. What’s great about The Printed Blog is that it’s a cause. People support us because they believe in community journalism and it’s so great to be a part of that.

I never thought that when I started this blog that it would open up so many doors. I’ve met so many remarkable people, some of whom are my best friends now. It has allowed me to travel and learn. I’ve grown tremendously from when I first began blogging and it’s very interesting to go back to the beginning and read about where I was in my journey.

So tonight when I’m speaking and trying not to puke on my note cards, I’ll try to remember all of the super awesome people who’ve helped me get to where I am and I’ll just pretend I’m talking to you.

With that said…I’m so sorry I’ve been absent from your blogs! I’m trying to read as much as I can with what time my schedule allows.

Fun fact: I get nervous when I’m typing “public” that I will type “pubic” instead and not notice it.

I think you’ll kick some ass tonight. And if Sweets and I have finalized our new purchase (yet another new purchase) by the time you go live, I’ll stop by. If not, know I’m thinking solid thoughts for ya!

True story. I was contacted by a stranger who wanted to let me know I had sent out a press release with that very typo. FML.

Jenn, you’ll be fine! I know that because you believe in the printed blog and what you are doing. A presentation is nothing more than a glorified sales pitch, and selling is easy when you believe in the product. Enjoy spreading the word about what you love doing! :-) It’s pretty cool.

Once I had a link on my blogroll that said “Pubic Relations.” No one told me about it for over a month. Oops!
