I stole this from Jess over at JessWrites. I don’t do many surveys, so bear with me
1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before? Traveled to California, stood in a room full of hundreds of bloggers, graduated from massage therapy school and received my massage therapy license.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t think I kept the ones I made last year. I’d have to go back and check my blog to see what they were, but I’m too lazy. I only made one resolution for 2009: Don’t suck.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Not in 2008.
5. What countries did you visit? North America?
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? Money, patience, balance, direction and perhaps a monkey.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory and why? June 27 and 28th. Those were the dates of the big Chicago blogger meet-up and Maxie, Deutlich and Renee (who didn’t live here at the time) joined us. See what Chicago bloggers do to people? We make you move. Maxie, Deutlich? You’re next.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Graduating and moving out (again.)
9. What was your biggest failure? Failing my first semester back at school. Not moving past creepy ex and letting go of my anger.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nothing too severe.
11. What was the best thing you bought? My MacBook.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My cat Seven. She spent 8 months being a complete nuisance, not to mention a picky piddler. But upon moving out and into our new apartment, she’s been nothing but a sweetheart. No picky piddler here!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My dad. He called me yesterday afternoon to borrow money so he and his gf could spend NYE in a hotel. This is after he borrowed $450 and stole my bed. I’m still waiting for that money!
14. Where did most of your money go? Funny you should ask. $450 went to my dad, $500 went to the bed he’s sleeping on, $720 went to school books, $900 went to rent, $1300 went to car payments, $370 went to new tires, $1100 went to a Macbook, and the rest went to bills.
15. What did you really, really, really get excited about? MacBook, BlogHer, my birthday, my first Bears game at Soldier Field.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008? “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz (I stole her answer, too.)
17. Compared to this time last year are you:
Happier? I’d say I’m about the same.
Thinner? Definitely not.
Richer? You’d think that since I now have two jobs, but no.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Save money, relax, write (not on a blog)
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Complain, worry
20. How did you spend Christmas? I spent Christmas Eve at my grandparent’s house with the family and Christmas Day with my dad.
21. How will you be spending new years? I spent it with Jamie. We ate too much at Bahama Breeze and fell asleep before midnight. Be jealous.
22. Did you fall in love in 2008? With a midget named Bullet McCoy.
23. How many one-night stands? n/a
24. What was your favorite TV program? Gossip Girl, Grey’s, Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone…
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? No
26. What was the best book you read? “Body of Work” by Christine Montross
27. What was your biggest musical discovery? I don’t think I had any big musical discoveries this year actually.
28. What did you want and you got? Acceptance into UIC.
29. What did you want and not get? My dad to stop being a d-bag.
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Burning After Reading
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old did you turn? I turned 24 and spent the evening with some of my favorite bloggers at Minnies.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? A better job #1 or winning the lottery.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Comfortable.
34. What kept you sane? My mom.
35. Which celebrity did you fancy the most? Not Robert Pattinson…
36. What political issue stirred you the most? Everything involved with Sarah Palin.
37. Who did you miss? Bullet McCoy.
38. Who was the best new person you met? D, Jamie, Jess and Dan.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008: Know your limits.
40. Quote or Song Lyric that sums up your year: “Ah but don’t, no don’t sink the boat, that you built, you built to keep afloat.”

“Don’t suck” is a great resolution!
Think I might use it myself . . .
Sounds like you actually accomplished quite a lot this year, far more than me. Hopefully 2009 will be a great year for us all!

Monkeys are evil. So very evil.

Whatever you do don’t get a Monkey, my boyfriend had one for awhile and it is like having a child. Plus you have to feed them grapes and they like to eat off the outer peel layer and spit it on the floor.
