I'm sorry your meeting didn't go as planned. As a therapist once told me, you should not feel obligated to get together with your family. In the future, maybe you should suggest getting together alone with your dad. And if that compromise doesn't work for him, you have a right to do what's best for you. Doesn't make the situation easier, though.
