I know that Deaf Culture has a definite vibe that doesn't always feel good to hearing people. I think being cruel or mean is wrong, no matter what place it comes from.

I took several Deaf Education classes in college, including one on Deaf culture. Most of the material we read and the deaf people we met were lovely people who wanted to be respected. We did watch one video on deaf culture, however, that could only be described as militant. Several deaf people in the video went on an on about how horrible hearing people are and how awful it would be to be a hearing person. It was a little intense.

I never stopped to think how someone that is deaf might be so proud that they have no intentions of wanting to hear.

I guess, in general, pride can be kind of annoying when people let it affect their opinions. Why can't we all just be proud to be human and move on from there.
