A little bit of this, a little bit of that

I wonder how often I reuse blog titles. Some times I recognize it and remember that it’s already been used in a previous post. Other times…meh.

Chicago bloggers: I hope you’re available Sept. 15 because Lacey from Perks of Being a JAP will be in Chicago and she’s treating joining us for dinner/drinks. Details are still being ironed out. More than likely it will be downtown. Right now the BIG Bar at the Hyatt on Wacker is our tentative location. (Unless there is a BIG objection to this place, consider it our final choice.) Plan on getting there between 7-8 p.m. I realize it is a week night so if you can join us, please let me know so I know how many to expect. If not, you will be missed! I’d appreciate it if you guys could advertise this on your own blogs so all of the Chicago bloggers can see it.

Twenty (and thirty!) something bloggers: Please keep in mind that a final city has NOT yet been chosen for our Big Blogger Meet-up. Anyone in Boston, Chicago and New York is welcome to submit reasons why the meet-up should be held in that city. Please keep in mind that you have until Sept. 5th to get your information back to us. Either comment here or on the forum post at 20SB. Once I have all of the information, I will post it along with another poll so we can make an educated decision on which city should host the meet-up. Do what Arielle did and share your thoughts on your blog. Spread the word so we can get everyone’s opinion.

Think you know music? Check out Mr. Mega’s blog post today and share your favorites.

I know there’s a significant amount of Blackberry users who read this. In addition to taking out your battery for phone maintenance, be sure you clean your cache. This will help improve your phone’s memory.

Blog Day 2008

Will you be participating in Blog Day on August 31st? I will (if I remember!!) The (short version) of the rules are as follows: Find and share five new blogs that you find interesting and include a description of that blog. Notify those five bloggers that you recommended them as part of Blog Day. This is a great way to build traffic, share content and say thank you to some of your readers.

I’ve recommended Captain Blasto in the past and I know some of you are enjoying the web series (yay!) The Captain Blasto team needs your help to get noticed by the Apple iTunes team. All you have to do is watch and write a review! It’s simple :)

I’ll keep Sept 15 in mind, but now that I’m campaigning, my hours will be really wonky. It’s fairly unlikely I’ll be able to attend. :-\

Penciling Sept 15th in my calendar right now.

As for hosting 20SB in Chicago;

We are THE hot city right now! We have Batman AND Fall Out Boy wandering our streets. The food is affordable and oh so filling (find me a person that can walk away from one of our stuffed pizzas or hot dogs with everything on them and still be hungry and I will show you a person with a bottomless stomach). The people are friendly and the architecture is amazing. We are the city the USA has picked to hopefully represent them to the world in the next Olympics.

If America thinks we have the best face to show to the WORLD then we should be THE best place for the 20SB convention.

Sign me up for Blog Day 2008. Love that kind of stuff. Though, do we really need a day to recognize other bloggers? I mean, isn’t that kinda what a part of blogging is all about?!

Yayyyy! I’m so excited to meet you IRL! :) And various other bloggers. Woo hoo!!

P.S. know any good sports bars? A bunch of my staff will be in Chi with me on the 4th, and want somewhere to watch the opening NFL game. :)

Umm…Boston would mean that I’d be able to go.

Is that enough reason?

As a new Chicago blogger I feel it is mandatory that you’re there. However, I suppose I can let it slide this one time :)

Rachel -
You better be there or I will cry. Seriously. Tears will fill up my empty martini glass.

Nilsa -
In addition to my emailed response, people like buttons/badges to put on their page ha ha!

Lacey -
I know that you’re the most excited to meet me. It’s okay. The others need to know this.

Ben -
Of course!

I’m ready for the 20 (30) something meetup and thanks for the heads up on the 31st. I’ll participate for sure!

Blog day is in my google calendar and the meetup should definitely be in Boston!

Thanks for the link!

And I agree wholeheartedly with Arielle’s blog post. Boston is underrepresented yet incredible.

Not that I’m biased or anything… :)

I’ll attend in any city. Credit card miles FTW. Thanks for the link love.

I hope to see you in whatever city it may be in!

sforshner -
It’s quite possible!

Lynn -
No problem :) Boston IS a pretty fantastic city. There are a lot of bloggers from there who I’d love to meet.

Dan -
I’m hoping for a cheap city seeing as how I’m a poor college student. And you’re welcome :)

Oh I need to mark Blog Day on my calendar and think about which ones to recommend. Oh I need to update my blogroll too. Bigtime.

I’m up for September 15. I’ll put it on the calendar too.

If Boston wins then I am organizing a carpool just so that I can see Ben

Oh man! You guys will be meeting really close to where I work! Any chance anyone will be meeting any earlier? :P I have to be at Union Station by 7:30 because I’m lame and have to get to bed early these days.

e. -
Depending on how my classes go, I might be able to arrange meeting you earlier.

This was all super informative. I’m just catchin’ on to all these amazing 20-something bloggers and it’s been giving me a little rush. I wanna do it all! I’ll definitely be waiting for more info on the Big Blogger Meet Up, even though it’s on the other coast.

Jenn, thanks for the heads-up about Blog Day! Very cool. Also, if the meet-up is in NYc, DomestiGal Sue would be able to go! Yipee!

This doesn’t have much to do with anything, but I thought of you when I saw these:

:)

I just noticed you recommended my blog - thank you!!! :)

JENN!!! You honor me Lady, you truly do! Thank you for the shout-out towards my site! It made a BIG impact: I now have a new “busiest day” (8/25, with 143 views)… which Wordpress tells me is equivalent to a +132.83% spike for that week’s viewership. WOW - you have some impact! :)

I actually referred your blog to Heather at This Fish Needs a Bicycle as recommended reading in comments yesterday — she placed a call-out for good reads!

*blogger fist bump* :) OneWandering (aka, Jen)

[...] Flawed — gave many of us bloggers a heads-up about BlogDay 2008, and she was kind enough to list my humble little spot o’ the blogisphere as one of her five! Jenn, I am truly honored! Hopefully I can do right by this recommendation and [...]
