Why am I so tired?
\
\
I’d like to think it’s because I wake up in the middle of the night to do amazing things like scale buildings and save little old ladies crossing the street.
\
\
Maybe I train my cats to jump through hoops.
\
\
Whatever it is I’m doing, I can’t say I’m a big fan of it because upon waking up in the morning I am still exhausted.
\
\
I have a hard time staying asleep. Every time I roll over I wake up. It doesn’t make sense though. Thunder doesn’t wake me. Glass breaking doesn’t either. Hell, we could probably have an earthquake and I’d sleep through it. So why does rolling over wake me up?!

Hmm…I don’t know. I do know how it feels to not get enough sleep though. If only we could all be superheroes with good excuses for our yawning

I used to be able to sleep all night, no prob. But now I find myself waking up, and sometimes it’s definitely caused by my tossing. Maybe it changes as we get older?!

Maybe you should just stop rolling over, girl!

First, right now, you still have post-BlogHer hangover. Other than that, I’d blame the dang cats. They are always scheming.

i did sleep through an earthquake a few months ago…

I feel tired nowadays because I don’t sleep (yay fatherhood).

I think I’m the opposite of you. I’m an extremely light sleeper, but I don’t wake from tossing and turning. I still felt tired when I woke up. I think it’s because society makes me live a 8:00 to 5:00 life and I have a 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM body.

Do you have a phobia of rolling off the bed? I rolled off my bunk bed at college once… it hurt.

I haven’t been sleeping well either, and it has gotten to the point where I’m so exhausted I almost can’t function.

Glass breaking? Where do you live, in a war zone?

I sleep like a ROCK, through multiple rolls-over, and I literally travel from one side of my bed to the other multiple times as the night goes on. So I’m fascinated by your particular problem. Maybe strap yourself down? That seems a bit much.
Reply
I barely sleep anymore either. Strap yourself down? Although, it might be kind of hard to physically get out of bed the next morning.

Maybe you have a lot on your mind.

Recently (and by recently I mean just last night) I caught myself walking in my sleep. How do I know? I woke up because I stubbed my toe on a pair of high heels, I had no idea where I was going.
\
\
Needless to say, I’m tired too.

I have the opposite problem. When I roll over, I fall asleep again. But maybe a good idea for you would be to have more pillows on your bed. I recently got a body pillow for my bed, and let me tell you what a great investment that was. I love it.

Ugh. That must suck. Are you experiencing pain when you roll over? That may be a factor.

Usually, I don’t advocate pills, but Melatonin is a great vitamin and it really helped me to control some of my sleeping issues.

I hear you. I’m having the same problem and I don’t know why. When you figure it out, let me know!

I think I actually know the answer to that question. Almost everybody wakes up once or twice during the night, as we go through the sleep cycle. Some people don’t notice it and immediately go back to sleep. But many people who have something on their mind, or get distracted easily, wake up during this part of the cycle and can’t get back to sleep.
\
\
I used to not notice the wake part of the cycle, and now I’ve just started suffering from waking up in the middle of the night.

so weird, i am so the same way. i have slept through eartquakes and alarm clocks but sometimes the slightest movement will wake me up. i really don’t get it. maybe it’s our bodies self defense mode? who knows?

I have the same issue and its annoying. Also the last word used in this post reminds me of another blog, but which one?

I’ve been going through a phase of being exhausted when I wake up. I’m thinking it’s b/c I get up to pee in the middle of the night and take like 2 hours to fall back to sleep.

I blame my prostate.
\

Just kidding.

maybe rolling over interrupts your sleeping rhythm. idk, i just made that up, but it sounded good.
\

have you ever tried one of those sleep masks??? i know people who swear by them, although i’ve never tried one.

this is gonna make me sound like a total hippy, but i started listening to ocean sounds when i go to sleep. i’m out in 5 minutes and i’ve never slept better! it’s some sort of deep sleep album i got off itunes.

Welcome to Sleep Hell. I’ve been here for weeks. I wake up at least 3 times a night, and then I’m wide awake at 6AM. It’s so wrong.

I think I’m going to start partying all night because either way (party or no party) i’m tired as crap. We should start a club.

Maybe it’s what causes you to roll over that wakes you? Example, if your shoulder hurts from laying on it, it’s the shoulder discomfort that wakes you, not the rolling over? I’m not sure I have a great answer for this one. Louise Hay says regarding insomnia= fear, not trusting the process of life. She has a section in the book I sent you surrounding sleep. Maybe look there?

I ask myself the same flipping question when I wake up tired as hell. Mine is definitely from lack of exercise.

i call myself a heavy sleeper, but sometimes, my door opening or the softest ding of receiving an instant message via AIM can wake me. however, my problem is that whenever i get up i think “great, now i have to pee.” and i can’t go back to sleep until i get up and go, even if i just fell asleep and went 1 hr ago. it’s a curse.
\
\
and i always wake up tired.
\
\
too much sleep or too little. i guess i havent found that “perfect” amount yet.

Linked over from Mom2my6pack. Have you considered maybe it’s a sleep disorder? Like narcolepsy or sleep apnea? You don’t have to be an obese guy to get sleep apnea and it REALLY messes with you.
\
Also, try to make sure you’re not drinking too soon before bed. Even though alcohol makes you sleepy, once the buzz wears off, it actually makes you more restless.
\
If your insurance will cover it, maybe you could look into getting a sleep study!
\
Good luck!

I don’t know what it is either but I’ve been really tired this week. A couple nights ago I even went to bed at 8.50, and didn’t feel particularly refreshed/rested the next day. Hmm…

Are you worrying about something?

This is going to sound ridiculous, but is it a pillow issue? I was having major waking up in the middle of the night problems and then I got a new pillow because my physical therapist made me and poof! No more waking up! Apparently better pillow = less tossing and turning.
Reply
That’s really strange. I have NO idea why simply rolling over would wake you up if thunder and other loud things don’t scare you awake. Hmm…
