Thinking positive

by freeandflawed on July 11, 2008

It’s been almost three months since I posted my I Love list. I really enjoyed compiling it and thinking of all the small things I love, and usually take for granted. The point of the list is to exclude individual people. It reminds me that I don’t need to be dependent on someone for happiness. I can find it almost everywhere I look. So here is my second installment of my “I Love” list.
Home-cooked meals. Stepping into a puddle on a hot day. Inky pens. Fireworks. Raw vegetables. The “crunch” sound that follows after biting into a raw vegetable. Weeping Willows. Museums. Wishing wells. Fountains. Pianos. Popsicles. Biting into a hot dog that’s been cooked on a grill. Sleeping sans pants. Anxiety before a trip. Puzzles. Purring cats. Cashews.
Rain drops. Dixie cups with cartoons on them. Soft kisses. Colorful paper clips. Dry-erase boards. Lilacs. Banana bread. Making pumpkin bread. Planning ahead. Curiosity. Butterflies. Ab exercises (Crazy right?). The ukulele. Picture frames. My feet sinking into wet sand. Stepping into warm, dry sand. Painting. The sound of somebody typing. Lightning. Cupcakes.
Feeding ducks/geese/deer. Washing my car. Flinstone Push-Ups (Orange please). Yellow file folders. Marble counter tops. Catepillars. Finding sea shells. Fabric softner. The scent of a cake baking. Ice skating. Jumping into a pile of leaves. Saturday mornings. Having my hair played with. The smell of burning leaves. Popcorn popping. Lemons and limes.

What is it that you love?

Blackberries picked right off the bush, a violent thunderstorm watched from a safe place, the giggles of my nieces being tickled, fireworks, a muddy horse, my dog’s smile, digging my toes into the beach, the smell of sunblock, the smell of spring rain and fall leaves, going to a movie alone, a rousing cheer at the bar with my circle of friends, and is it wrong that I love a high traffic day on my blog?

My favorite thing I love right now is reading to my daughter. I’m reading Bill Bryson’s “A Walk in the Woods” at night and she loves it, brings it to me to read to her even when she’s not tired.

Wow… that is a really cool list. I have only met one other person who has a fascination for playing with long hair. When I had long hair they introduced me to the hair massage/playing, utterly AMAZING feeling – could put me right to sleep.

I love a good cup of tea, the smell of books, biting into a really crisp apple, that moment when you begin to see a photo develop in the dark room, puppies, and hand written letters.

Oooh, I love lilacs too! My first house of my own had a lilac bush. Rochester also has the Lilac festival every year, which I love. I made it to the most recent one (and my last, since we moved) on the last day, because my honeymoon ended just one day before. I was SO happy! I still have to post pictures from it. They have hundreds of lilac bushes in full bloom then, and it is just divine.

I LOVE lilacs. I always forget how amazing they smell until every Spring, when they are assaulting my nasal cavities with their amazing amazingness.

coconut flavored snowcones, my dad and his crazy ways, a backrub, that feeling before you go down a rollercoaster, snowglobes/waterglobes, music boxes, cameras, fake fairy wings for kids!, cloud watching, crayons, mac and cheese, those opportunities to be a kid again and enjoying every minute, holding my younger cousin’s hand, sleeping beside someone, singing in the shower…and so much more!
