Scrubs’ Season Finale

by freeandflawed on May 9, 2008

This has been a crazy season for Scrubs. Part of me feels like it went on forever. The other part feels like it flew by. I blame the writer’s strike. Last night the season finale for Scrubs aired on NBC. Rumor has it that ABC will pick up the show for their eighth season (Yay!) Last night’s episode was directed by Zach Braff and paid homage to The Princess Bride.

Dr. Cox was telling his son about the horrible day he had. This took the audience back to historic times. The janitor was a giant, Dr. Kelso was an evil sorcerer and Ted was his hunchbacked sidekick. J.D. was the village idiot, Elliot was the princess and Keith was a prince. Oh! And Carla and Turk were two witches who, when they got married, turned into one. That was interesting. The point of the story was to find out what was killing a young woman. J.D. and Elliot had to go into the forbidden forest and find the golden ring (diagnosis).

\
The story went back and forth between the hospital and this fairy tale. I think the connections between to two worlds were pretty weak and cheesy though. Then again, this isn’t Grey’s Anatomy. It’s Scrubs. It’s meant to be funny and cheesy. My favorite part is when Turla (Carla & Turk’s witch body) would fight with each other. She would punch him in the man bits.

\
Also in this episode J.D. and Elliot bring up the “almost kiss” they had back in season six. Elliot believes J.D. tried to kiss her. Naturally J.D. doesn’t believe that. I don’t like how Dr. Kelso was thrown back into this episode. He was gone in the last one. Also, even if this were a season finale, it’s not a great way to end the series. Nothing was resolved.
\

\
All in all, it was a fun episode and I hope it got the ratings it deserved. It’s tough when competing with Ugly Betty. I had to keep flipping back and forth between channels during commercials so I could watch both at once. I’m not cool enough to have DVR. I’m looking forward to the next season!

It was meant to be finishing this season wasn’t it? Then because of the WGA strike it got cut short and now it’s getting a short final season on ABC (AFAIK anyway).

I loved it, because I love everything about Scrubs. However, I was super confused about Kelso, too. WTF? Shouldn’t he be out golfing with Dick Van Dyke or something? The Princess Bride homage was adorbs. Loved it. And Carla looked HOT as a witch. Haha.

Well I hope I didn’t ruin anything since you haven’t seen Season 7 yet. I heard ABC was going to air 18 episodes. Well, I read that. Can’t remember where though.

I feel like I missed something with Kelso. He did leave right? Carla did look pretty hot as a witch. Elliot looks so much hotter as a doctor than a princess though.

I was wondering the same thing about Kelso. I didn’t realize this was the season finale! That kind of sucks. It was decent as a regular episode, but not if it was possible the end of a series. They better continue on ABC!

Kelso was on this one because they aired it out of order. Zach Braff said on his blog that they’re filming the 8th season right now, which I am so glad about. Because I thought that this episode was pretty meh. I want them to end things on a high note!

I gotta get into this show. It’s already in syndication where I live, but I always miss new episodes.

Scrubs reruns are on at 11:30 in Pittsburgh which is right when I’m snuggling into bed. (I used to watch futurama and family guy on adult swim then, buuuttt we don’t have cable anymore) Annnnyway…I never used to watch it and now I’m addddicted! I loves it so much and it’s going to leave….*tear*….

My favorite part about this episode is when Dr. Cox was narrating, and he said something to the degree of this: “And the idiot and the princess realized that their almost kiss meant nothing. But they’re both idiots.”

I really, really, really want JD and Elliot to get together, so the fact that they’re supposed to be together gives me hope.

I hadn’t really watched Scrubs this season because of not having time, but I caught this episode online, and I really enjoyed it. A lot. Here’s to hoping the next season is just as good!
