It’s a new day

by freeandflawed on April 23, 2008

Last night I spent a lot of time thinking about all of the stuff that made me mad. I was in a pretty negative mood after ending a conversation with my dad. I woke up in a pretty bad mood when I found no text or missed call like I was told I’d get. But as I said, it doesn’t matter and I guess it really didn’t. So I’m feeling pretty icky being surrounded by all this negativity. I’ve been trying to remain positive. So without further adieu, I present to you my “I love” list.

Ziploc baggies with the zipper. Real maple syrup. Walking under sprinklers. Running through puddles barefoot. Drawing on smooth sidewalk with chalk. Rainbows. New pens. Thunder and lightning storms.

New planners/notebooks. Sharpening a pencil just to make a cone out of the shavings. Being the first to use the ice cream, peanut butter or jelly. The smell of a new book. Neon highlighters. Saying “icky.”
The first day of school. The sound of an ice skate hitting the ice. Holding hands. Baby’s feet. Giving people gifts. Burying my feet in the sand. The smell of sulfur. Peeling dry skin, especially after a sunburn. Eucalyptus scented anything. Sleeping with the window open. Lying down on green grass. Watching entire seasons of TV shows in one sitting. Flip flops. Anatomy. Book stores. Being naked.
Pancakes. Smiling. Bad hair days. Good hair days. Getting flowers for no reason, especially if they’re hand picked and not bought. Unpacking after a move. Packing for a vacation. Staring at a full moon. Biting the salt off of pretzels. Floating in calm waters. Neon band-aids. Cooking with a loved one. Purring cats. Strawberry shortcake. Candle-lit dinners. People-watching. Going to the airport.

Writing in books. Cleaning. Putting things together (ex. office furniture). Being a smart ass. Having girl friends. Fruity drinks. Girls night out. Standing barefoot in the ocean in the middle of November. Missing flights home. Just-washed hair that still smells like conditioner. Footsteps in the snow. Coffee breaks. Listening to somebody speak French. Looking at maps. Feeling loved. Paying off a bill.
\
Super comfy couches. Swimming. The smell before it rains. Dreaming. Cinderella gowns. Being a tourist. Smelling like chlorine. Receiving letters in the mail. Sending post cards. Talking. The second before the big drop on a roller coaster. Handshakes. Sign language. Dancing when nobody is looking. Dancing like an ass when someone is watching. Distractions.
So that sums up today’s love list. I’m sure I will be adding to it as needed. I hope everyone has a good day.

I love new pens, new notebooks/planners, peeling dry skin, bookstores, listening to people speaking french (something that just happened this morning!), dreaming, and letters too :)

The best thing about these LOVE LISTS is the fact you are not only cheering yourself up but everyone who reads them because I have always found something I didn\’92t realize I in fact I did love in another’s love list. Keep your head up. You are destined to have a bright cheery day!

I love your love list! I’ve been having a hard time finding the ziplock baggies with the actual zippers in the stores lately. It makes me sad.

Your list definitely made me smile!

Amazingly, I’ve never watched an entire season of a tv in one sitting, (except maybe family guy in the background while I clean the house, it helps me work) I’m going to make it a point to do it because I’m pretty sure I’d love it!
\

\
And I didn’t even think about how wonderful it is to take that first scoop of ice cream!

This was awesome! I need to make a list like this; however, I’m sure it would take me a long time because usually I have a hard time deciding even my “favorite thing” much less something I just “love”. I’m complicated ;) As for the eucalyptus…..Jenn head straight to Bath & Body Works!! I love love love their Aromatherapy Eucalyptus Spearmint scent. I currently have lotion and also the pillow mister. Made for stress relief. I say good for anything no matter what!

Peeling skin after a sunburn is pretty much the greatest thing ever. I did this list before and was happy to see that just writing down a whack of good stuff really helps improve the mood.
\

\
Also? Pancakes. I could live without a lot of things but I do not want to live in a world without pancakes.

Hey, if you like putting furniture together, I know of an apartment that will need some furniture put together in mid-May…kidding. I actually like doing that too. I like this idea…

I like how despite being in a bad mood, you made a love list. It has to be something that makes you smile even when you aren’t too happy. And I definitely think I am going to write one out.

I LOVE love lists. And I too love drawing on a smooth sidewalk with chalk. You just get more satisfaction from it than having to draw on an uneven/crumbly surface. I used to spend entire weekends drawing all over my double-wide driveway when I was younger. :)

I hate when I wake up in a bad mood! And this is such a great idea for a post. I agree with another commenter that these lists cheer up your readers, too. For example, the mere thought of a ziploc bag with a real zipper makes me smile. Man, I love those!
