Baaaad Cat!! | Free and Flawed

Does everyone remember Seven? Of course you do. How could you not remember the cat in which I dedicated three posts to her pooping habits.

Three seems to be the magic number with her because tonight she peed not once, not twice, but three times on the same chair. In the past she’s used this chair as her own personal lavatory, but we’ve cleaned it and now keep it covered with an old shower curtain. Last week she decided she’d like to christen it with a little golden shower. I thought nothing of it as it was only once and it hadn’t happened for a while. But today! It’s ridiculous!

Once when I was gone. The curtain was cleaned and put back. Then I get home to find more on it. This time the shower curtain was replaced. I take a shower, come back upstairs, what do I find? More cat pee on the chair! What is going on?! Chairs aren’t bathrooms! There is a very clean litter box only four feet away from the chair. Why is it so difficult to use it?

I know, “take her to the vet.” Well unless you’re going to donate to her vet bill, I just can’t afford it right now. And I really don’t want to take her there, pay $300 just to find out she’s constipated again or just pissed off.

I had this awesome post all planned out in which I’d list the reasons why I’d make such an awesome drunk person, but all of that is ruined. The stench of cat pee has completely sucked me out of my buzz.

Seven, I woke up in one of those “fuck off” moods, too today. But unlike you, I’m not peeing on chairs. Knock it off!
\

Any suggestions other than cleaning a litter box (it’s clean), getting another one (she has two!), or taking her to the vet tomorrow are welcome. Obviously if it persists, I’ll take her to the vet, but I work tomorrow anyway. She’d have to wait until Saturday regardless.

my cat will pee in random places every once in awhile. i spent a ton of money taking him to the vet because i thought he was sick, and it turns out he’s just weird.

he likes to pee in my dirty laundry basket, and the other day he pooed on one of Hubs’ pairs of shorts. he also has two litterboxes, but instead he occasionally chooses to be a pain in the ass.

unless she won’t stop it, or she’s not eating or she’s acting strangely besides the peeing, i wouldn’t really worry about it.

i find that my cats do stuff to try and piss me off if i’m not home much or i don’t pay attention to them enough. maybe it’s that? keep an eye on her! bad kitty!

So far no pee this morning. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s just a Tuesday night thing.

That is a conundrum. Have you tried moving the chair. Maybe that will break the habit?

An old roommate had a cat (who hated my guts). It was my first exposure to life-with-cat. She used to pee on my shoes in the closet specifically. Not to mention the time that she jumped up on a pile of clean clothes and let loose.

I got nothing. That is exactly why I am pet-less.

cats and i don’t really get along. or maybe it was just the last cat i lived with. he (the cat) was always on my kitchen counters and it just flat out grossed me out that this animal was stepping in it’s own poop then jumping on the counter where i prepare food. GROSS!

ok rant over, i’ll now go on with my regular business

We closed off certain parts of the house from one of our kittys… that’s my only advice

I always yearn to have a kitty or puppy until I remember things like this.

you should try peeing on chairs. It works.

Wow, another Tia responding! How funny! I found you through Kali and finally am de-lurking. Try using Cat Attract in her litterbox. It works wonders. Also, have you tried moving the chair and putting the litterbox near where the chair was? Good luck! This is why I’m not really a cat person, but since I’m involved with a shelter I know a decent amount about working with cats with pee issues.

ohhhh baddd baddd cat lol. when i was 10 we had a cat for awhile…until it pooped all over the house [read: chronic diahhrea], bit holes in all of our photos, and scratched claw marks into our antique dining room table.

oh man that would drive me insane.

I was thinking to myself, “man I’m so glad my dog doesn’t pee inside the house,” but when I got home tonight, there were hundreds of chewed (but not swallowed) jelly beans, what used to be a full bag of chocolate chip cookies that’s now an empty bag and a guilty-looking dog. This is the third such incident in the past two weeks.

just curious…have you changed the litter to a different brand lately? my persnickety cats will stage a hissy fit if the litter isn’t conducive to their discriminating…palates isn’t the right word, but you get my drift. just a thought. i’m sure you’ve covered all of these bases.

i wouldn’t worry unless everything starts going crazy. sometimes life is just calculated to teach you patience, even when you’d really it rather not.
