I can’t think of an awesome enough title

by freeandflawed on March 16, 2008

If you were to ask me what I did yesterday, I would respond, “only the most awesomest things ever!” It all began around 9:30 a.m. My cousin Sara, her boyfriend, his son and some dude picked me up to head downtown for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. It was exciting to look out of the window and see the streets filled with people dressed in green. Green is my favorite color you know…
\

\
I’ve never been to a parade so this was pretty exciting. It was cold, but that didn’t stop anyone from lining up along the streets. When I think of a St. Pats parade, I think of Irish, shamrocks, leprechauns and the sort. Sure there were those…but there were also unicorns, plumbers, sheet metal workers and politicians. I did get a green hat though so I’m okay with that. My cousin left early but I stayed since I was going to be meeting Miss Jamie later.
\

\
Soon the crowd got smaller because the parade seemed to go on forever. Honestly, you can only see so many Irish dancers before you’ve seen them all. I begin walking down Columbus only to find that I can’t cut over to Millennium Park because the parade was still going on right there. Eff! So I walked down Columbus to Wacker. I was mad because I couldn’t feel my feet or hands and had no good reason for that. I wasn’t drunk! But walking this way did allow me to see the Chicago River dyed green. (Isn’t it always green?) Yes, but now it’s a special green.

I almost took a nap at Borders but a blueberry muffin and crazy cookie later, I was wide awake. Enter Jamie. Don’t worry folks, she really is a 23-year-old female blogger. Anyone who may have thought she was a 40-year-old creepy guy may utter a sigh of relief. I’m not sure why or even how, but I found myself talking about penguin poop. Real nice first impression Jenn. We talked in Borders for quite some time before heading out in search of food. Neither of us really know our way around the loop very well and stuck to a very small area. We settled on Pizano’s (after almost not finding it). At this point I’m still questioning my decision to bring up penguin poop. But the dinner conversation was less disgusting haha. You can check out Jamie’s blog to read about what the fun people next to us were talking about.
\

\
After a quick trip to Starbucks and an attempted photo shoot in the middle of the sidewalk at State and Washington, we parted ways. Soon after I spilled my coffee on my mitten. Not cool. Obviously. Overall it was a very fun day. I’m so glad I got to meet Jamie (I missed her at the blog meet-up last month). Watch out bloggers because the fierceness that is J & J will probably knock your socks off!

\
Her picture is better, but I also look like a three-foot-tall leprechaun in it. I’ll post more pictures from the parade and my walking tour soon. I’m tired of resizing for now!

I went to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade here too! :) You’ve never been to a parade other than yesterday? OMG, you poor thing. Glad you had a blast! Love the river. We don’t have one of those here in town. But I did get to see a cheerleader step in horse shit and the crowd go “OOOOHHH!” LOL

How do they do that to the river? It seems like a kind of environmental hazard. I’m glad you had an awesome time, despite the omnipresent parade.

Seriously. Chicago would welcome you with open arms. At least I would. But you probably wouldn’t like the temperature change.

I know they use some orange dye. Plumbers discovered it accidentally while trying to fix a leak once upon a time.

You’ll definitely have to drag Jamie out to the next blogger meet-up. Sick or not!
