How Could I Resist?

The folks over at Switched have ever so kindly put together a 10 Best-Bang-For-Your-Buck Gadgets list.

Now you see why I couldn’t resist right?

My favorites:
\

  • The Blackberry Curve ::drools:: One day it will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine. I swear, once I have this phone in my hot little hands I’ll stop drooling and obsessing about it on my blog. This sexy little piece of technology has everything one would need to manage their life: e-mail, IM, a built-in organizer, camera, a media player and even maps for directionally-challenged people like myself. Of course, some will argue “what does the Blackberry Curve do that your current phone does not?” Well, for starters I can actually stick the Curve in my pocket. If THAT reason alone doesn’t satisfy your thirst for knowledge, then it makes me feel high-tech and important. There, you happy?

  • Flip Video Ultra Camcorder. How cute is this?! Sure it only has a 1.5-inch screen, but I think you’ll be surprised when you see the resolution. Obviously you’re not going to shoot your first movie on it, but you can get 60 minutes of drunken fun! What I love the most is the built-in USB plug that allows me to plug in cord-free. I hate having a cord for every piece of technology I know.

  • As far as basic laptops go, I’m a big fan of Dell’s Inspiron 1525. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it comes with Vista (that’s a WHOLE other post my friends). It includes a wireless card, which makes it easy to explore the Interwebz wherever you may be….assuming there’s WiFi of course.

We use Dell’s at work. I’ve been generally very happy with mine. Though, I’ve heard terrible things about Vista. Would be interested in hearing your take on it.

That happened to me! I had it in my hands but then I just walked away. I couldn’t spend that much money at the time. But oh I’m ready now!

How come you didn’t get one? That doesn’t seem fair.

I got the Flip Video for Christmas. Although I haven’t used it much (and had A LOT of problems getting the software to install the first time I used it) I love it. It’s the perfect little camera to carry around and shoot video WHENEVER.

YES! CURVE! Curve all the way honey! Not Pearl with the way too tiny keys, I know I’ve had this mini rant here before, but the curve is just SO much better! I so want the red one, but not the AT&T BS to go along with it since they are the only ones offering the red one, I stick with the first generation BlackBerry that I, like you, cannot fit in my pocket. Heck, I can barely fit it into my pocketbook! But one day that little Curve will be mine!

Kristy – Glad you’re enjoying the camera!
\

\
Vanessa – Hahaha…I’m still torn. I love both the Curve and the Pearl! But I really don’t want to switch to AT&T for the red Curve. One day…. I hope you get your Curve!
\

\
Deutlich – I love the iPhone. After buying an iPod touch though, I can’t warrant buying the phone. Then I’d have two things that look the same and do the same thing, except one has a phone. Not a smart idea. But I really hope you get it!

I have the curve, after 3 Palm Treo’s that were sent to me didn’t work. I’d been a Palm user for 8+ years and was scared to change. Do it! I love the Curve and now can’t imagine life without it. I wish it had a video recorder. =(

Also, if you’re really thinking about getting a new laptop, get a mac. I also made this switch a few months ago. Was looking at the Dell XPS, but it had Vista and was more expensive. That helped make the decision. BTW–Apple offers educational discounts on computers, software and apple care. =)
