Geek News, Take Three.

- Ever Google yourself? I love that “google’ is a verb now-a-days. I googled myself today after the boss googled an applicant. I got nervous and wondered what about me is out there floating around on the web. I found a poem I wrote when I was 13, my facebook account, my Evite response to the Chicago blogger meet-up and some NaBloPoMo forum crap. Nothing too bad! I also found another woman with my same name. Down to the middle name even. She seems to run a lot. Go her!

- Try to sign onto Windows Live this morning? So did I. It took about an hour to get logged on and that was after uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Seems that Windows Live has been down for about 11 hours now but the service status on their website thinks everything is peachy. Anyone know me on WL? If so, am I still logged on?

- Matt Damon, be still my heart. Damon will play Jason Bourne one more time in the fourth installment of the Bourne series. After Identity, Supremacy and Ultimatium…what more can be done?

- If anybody would like to send me to the BlogHer ‘08 conference in San Francisco. I’d be very grateful. The ever lovely Jamie and I are trying to get volunteer gigs at the conference so we can go. Assuming the BlogHer Gods are against us, she’s already found some great deals on a flight & hotel. The only downside to the Gods being against us: Early Bird prices END February 28th. That’s two days away for those of you who didn’t know. TWO days to find out if we go for free, $283 or $383. No pressure!!! Luckily for her, she’s still a student and will most likely get a substantial discount. Another drawback to NOT being in school. Stay in school kids!!!

- It’s about 79 degrees in my office today. Summer is here! It’s weird sweating inside and seeing five inches of snow outside my window.

Free bacon.

Pick us BlogHer! We are great!

Hey Ladies,
\

\
I have good news and not-as-good news.
\

\
Good news: BlogHer is going to extend the earlybird pricing a few weeks. So the pressure is off…for now.
\

\
Not-as-good news: We haven’t quite finalized our volunteers yet, so no news on that front. But we will notify all before earlybird pricing ends, so there’s that.
\

\
Yay! for you guys coming! regardless!

(the conference organizer - also blogging at the link provided) :)

When I Google myself, I get to see photos of me at a fundraising event for an alumni club … not mine, but our rival’s down the road. Nice!
\

\
Hotmail sucks ass. I was so pissed today. I use that account only for my alumni club events and I had to send an email out to the group. I wasn’t exactly sweating bullets, but I wasn’t exactly happy, either. Boo, hiss. Time to switch over to Gmail, eh?

omg that note is awesome! and you and jamie have my vote for BlogHer ‘08. Heck I’d send ya both there if I won the lottery :)

Another Bourne movie?! That made my day. I have googled myself. Apparently there are quite a few people sharing my name, including a dollar store queen. Some of my articles from grad school and freelancing come up too.

I have googled myself, many times. I found someone with my exact name too…it was weird. then we became friends on Facebook.
\

\
also, i can’t sign into my windows live account either. it’s so annoying. grrrr

I love that Google is a verb too…and Gmail chatted….there are about a billion people with my name. One is a famous romance author, one is a photographer, one is a real estate agent, and one has carcinoid cancer. Good stuff.
\

\
Assuming I get a job, I’m going to try reallyy hard to go to SanFran. I dunno though, bc I probably won’t be able to make the decision before the early bird specials are up!

No way, ANOTHER Bourne movie…i hope he’s not pushing his luck because the first three were pretty awesome.

i’m a magician in London. Stupid.

Thanks for letting us know about the early bird prices. I can breathe for the next week at least! I’m having fun reading your blog!

I have Gmail and I love it.

I hope the fourth one doesn’t suck! It would ruin the whole series for me.

Cool blog!
\

\
And definitely the Super Mario mushroom slippers. I so want those. W00t!

Trivia: Technically, “google” isn’t ALLOWED to be a verb yet. Google.com hasn’t lost it’s copywright the way Kleenex and Q-Tip have. They’re still very much a “brand” name, and they take people to court over the use of the term “googling” as a generic phrase for online searching.

That’s so ridiculous! Funny, but ridiculous. Just make it a verb already and stop suing people!

Angela- do you have a link to info about Google suing people for using “google” as a verb? I would love to see that. They have a lot of nerve!

I won’t make it BlogHer ‘08, but ‘09 might be a possibility. Looking forward to reading tales of ‘08!
