I have been tagged by Randy for a 7 Random Things About Me Meme. However, he changed it up a bit and asked to know 7 Famous People I’ve Met. Since I’ve already done the 7 random things about me and my 100 facts about me…I’m all randomed out. So the new format is quite welcomed!

Famous Person #1: Ben Kweller
\
In 2003 my then boyfriend, his friend and I drove from Western Illinois University to Northern Illinois University for a Ben Kweller concert. I remember Troubled Hubble opened up for him. I had a mini crush on Ben, as this was my third or fourth show of his I attended. Afterwards I waited around for an autograph. There he was, just hanging out with people after the show and I was too nervous to go over there. The then boyfriend went over to him and told him I was too afraid to ask for an autograph. Ben came up to me, touched my arm and said it was okay to touch him (wtf?) He signed my CD cover and ticket and away I went. I was blushing.

Famous Person #2: Dan Akroyd
\
Woo hoo Ghostbusters! Turns out Dan and Jim Belushi were at a local Wal-Mart one day signing autographs. I don’t remember why they were in town. I waited and waited in a line of people who ranged from Blues Brothers fans to Ghostbusters and My Girl fans. It was my turn and I got a picture with the both of them. Dan called me “doll face” and I felt uncomfortable because he was an old dude and I was like 17.

Famous Person #3: Jim Belushi

See above!

\
Famous Person #4: Colonel Potter from M.A.S.H. (Harry Morgan)
\
Some will argue that it was not him, but my six-year-old self believes it was. Maybe I was a little older…I’m not sure. I was playing outside with my cousin as we often did when I noticed Colonel Potter walking by. Convinced it was him, I ran up to him and asked if he was “that guy from M.A.S.H.” He said yes and I believed him. Now I realize this could have been an old man with white hair trying to humor and adorable little girl. But that would crush my spirits. So let me believe what I want!

Famous Person People#5: Gym Class Heroes & Cartel
\
My friend Dan-o took a train from New York to Chicago so we could drive up to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for Warped Tour 2006. I bought this gorgeous polka-dotted purse (which you can see over my head on the right side bar) and wanted to collect autographs on it. I noticed a line forming under a tent and ran over. I didn’t care who it was. I wanted some ink on that bag! Turns out it was Gym Class Heroes. They each tried signing their name inside one of the dots. I then found Cartel, and of course I turned into a screaming 14-year-old fan at that point. Found the lead singer, grabbed a picture and made him sign my bag. Twas a happy, happy day…sun burn and all. Plus, I got a pretty fantastic picture out of it (again, see right side bar) I call it my “you agitating my dots?!” bag.

Famous Person #6: John Lefler of Dashboard Confessional
\
I was a HUGE Dashboard fan back in the day (which was a Wednesday) before anybody even knew who they were. Before Chris Carraba became the object of every “emo-is-cool” girl. They played a show at the House of Blues. There were probably 100-200 people there. It was awesome. Anyway, I didn’t meet him there. They were opening up for Beck and during sets, John came to sit by me and my then boyfriend and his sister. It was odd. But he talked to us for a while. After he left, we left. We were only there for Dashboard ![]()

Famous Person People #7: Thursday
\
I was at Q101’s Jamboree concert back in 2001 or 2002. Thursday played and while everyone was waiting for the next band, I ran around back and met the band. It was the show where the guitarist or bassist fell off the stage 10 seconds into the song. Nice.
\
\
Most of the “famous” people I’ve met have been musicians before they were really “famous.” I wish I had some fun story about Johnny Depp or Guster.
\
\
I’m not going to tag anyone because whenever I do, those people have already been tagged or they just don’t feel like doing it (ahem, boyfriend.) So if you feel up to it, go for it. If not, that’s cool too. It’s just not how you roll. I get it.
