I can only imagine the looks on people’s faces as we walk in all dolled up in cute dresses. I’m sure people will think we’ve lost our way. That’ll be fun!

I am the same way with dresses – next time I’m in Chicago and am staying downtown with my BFFBrian and not up in Roger’s Park with my brother (and I’ve left my daughter at home) — I’ll get Brian to take us out somewhere fancy and fun. We can get all dolled up. Maybe we can get dolled up and go to ESPNSportsZone. That would be funny.

To hell with it. Get the dress, find a girlfriend or guyfriend and find a club to hit up in Chicago. I guarantee there’s someone else in your circle looking for something to do but thinks no one else is in their same situation.

If there’s nothing that suits your fancy going on, just go to a nice bar and hang out. Order appetizers, drinks and have some good conversation for the night. Discuss what’s been great and what’s sucked about the past year and share hopes and dreams for 2008. Maybe this would be fun to do with someone you don’t know that well but want to get to know better. Hell, if you’re up for driving to Madison, WI (where I am), we can do this in my city. =) I have invites to a few parties, but don’t know that I want to spend all evening at either of them.

Jenn, Buy the dress. Go to a dress-up party. Even if its just at someone’s house. No one ever cares if you’re overdressed if you look and feel fantastic anyway. Also- You could hang out with friends and conveniently not move on to that” super fancy party you were also supposed to make an appearance at.” PR trick. I digress, buy the dress. Those don’t come along too often.

Don’t worry about New Years! This is the first year that I’m not going partying with our friends. I said F*ck it and told my hubs we’re just going up to my family’s cabin in VT and doing absolutely nothing!! (obviously champagne and food will be involved- but no dressing up). Too bad you can’t be with your boyfriend though..
