I Think We Should Talk…

\
Dear New England Patriots,
\

\
How are you enjoying the weather? Heard you were getting slammed with snow. Enough small talk. I saw that the 2008 NFL Draft Order was released today. Feeling pretty good about that number 7 spot aren’t you? You’re 16-0 in case you didn’t know. I don’t really think that warrants a number 7 spot. As you can see the 7-9 Bears got the 14th spot. A team who is obviously in much need of repair. But yeah, it makes much more sense for you guys to pick before them.
\

\
I get it. If I were involved in Spygate 2007, I’d want to prove to everyone that we’re a good team minus the cheating. I’m not bashing your season. Though I could have done with more exciting games where you weren’t leading by 2-3 touchdowns in the first 14 minutes of the game. Still, congrats. I’m saying that out of guilt mostly.
\

\
I’ve supported and cheered you along this whole season. And to be honest, I need some space. It’s not you, it’s me. I’m just not stable enough handle this right now. First you play a perfect season, you get a shot in the playoffs and an almost inevitable Super Bowl win. My loyalty is elsewhere and I think it’s time I turn in my honorary Pats fan card. I just need a break to think things through a bit and see where I want this relationship to go, okay?
\

\
Sincerely,
\
Bitter Bears Fan
\

\
P.S. Tom Brady isn’t as sexy as he thinks he is.

It Took the Whole Season!

\
The Chicago Bears waited until weeks 16 and 17 of the season to rack up back-to-back victories! Did they not understand how this number system works? It goes 1, 2, 3…16, 17. Not 16, 17, 15, 14…1. Why start playing well now?! There’s no playoff hope! Surely isn’t no Super Bowl hope! The only two positives I can take away from this season are as follows:
\

\
1. Hopefully the Bears can carry this momentum into the 2008 season.
\
2. We get a GREAT draft pick.
\

\
Haha to the Patriots who will be last in line. Thanks to the boyfriend, I’ve been informed that the Patriots gave up their pick only to trade San Fran for theirs. So most likely they’ll be 5 or 6. I think that sucks. As if a perfect season, a trip to the playoffs and an almost certain Super Bowl win isn’t good enough…they gotta go screw up the rest of the NFL. Well eff that. yeah like they really need to trade anyone! Although I’d be perfectly content with Randy Moss or Tom Brady here in Chicago :)
\

\

\
But back to the Bears…earlier in the week Lovie said he didn’t see any trades in the upcoming draft pick. Um….seriously? He thinks he has a pretty good team. What? Has he been watching the same games as I have?! We have three or four starters out with injuries, Urlacher has back arthritis, Griese has been a QB for 12-ish years and it shows, Grossman is just…wow…and Orton has a neck beard!
\

\
I say spend some damn money and get a better QB. If they’re not going to fork over the cash, train Orton hard and start him come the new season. Also, get rid of the old defensive line and bring in some new guys.
\

\
I still can’t believe it’s taken a third-string QB to get us two wins in a row, both of which were in the 30s. Wtf?! Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that we won…but why so late in the season? What were they waiting for?

Dearly Devoted to Dexter

\

\
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but Dexter is a wonderful show! I finished season 1 in a matter of days, as I do with most shows I get hooked on - and happen to have on DVD.
\

\
Season two just ended, I believe, and I made the mistake to watch a behind-the-scenes interview with some of the characters and writers. They clearly warned me: Don’t watch unless you’ve seen the [season 2] finale.” I hadn’t. But I was curious. I didn’t realize that season two’s finale had aired already and that they were going to completely dissect the second season. Now I know what happens!
\

\
The show is losing a character and that’s sad. Sure he drove me nuts, but he was a key player. Of course, if you’ve seen the pilot episode, there’s a dead give away that these two are going to bump heads, which they’ve done many times already, and eventually and almost inevitably, one would have to leave the show. Obviously, they can’t lose Dexter or the show wouldn’t be Dexter anymore.
\

\
Some people might think knowing this information might stop me from watching the second season, which I just finished downloading. It sure won’t! The experience is not ruined! What’s nice about the show is that the storyline is continuous and they spend 11 or 12 episodes trying to figure out only a handful, if that, of cases. You don’t tangled in a web of stories like you would in Lost. I’m not saying Lost is a bad show…but you can’t really start watching season 3 without having seen the first two. I started watching season 2 of Dexter before 1 and was okay.
\

\
Plus, it helps that the stories revolve around serial killers, forensics, mystery, etc. Just my cup of tea!
\

\
If you’re tired of all the reruns due to the writer’s strike, it might not hurt to check out Dexter.

PostSecret 12.30.07

Just a few favorites from today’s batch of secrets. Be sure to check out the rest over at PostSecret.
\

\

\

\

\
One day I’ll get brave enough to send another one in. I’m still feeling bitter about the first one. I mailed it in around September or October 2006 and never saw it posted online or in any books. I guess my secret wasn’t juicy enough.

I Can See!!!

There’s no babe resting in a manger. Santa didn’t get stuck in my chimney. My cats didn’t magically turn into reindeer and my bills didn’t get paid. But….I have my new glasses! It’s a Christmas Miracle folks!
\

\
After many angry weeks of wondering when those $584 pair of glasses would show up I finally got the call this morning! It only took 43 days!

Thursday Round-Up

I’ve been out of school for almost two weeks. Between that and work being closed for the holidays, I’m pretty sure I’ve lost my mind. I’ve been bored. Really bored. It’s given me a lot of time to peruse the Internet though. I’ll share my list of fun sites I’ve come across:
\

\
Awesome
\
It’s just awesome!
\

\
Smiggle
\
Here you can find nifty stationary and storage ideas.
\

\
Kid Robot
\
This is a favorite of the boyfriend’s. They have a lot of random, cool hoodies and jackets for women and men. A bit on the pricey side though.
\

\
Apartment Therapy
\
I think this website will forever be on my list of websites to check out. I like that I can select Chicago to see apartments/stores around my own area.
\

\
Geek Sugar
\
I like all the sugar websites (pop, casa, pet, yum, fab, etc.) But GeekSugar entertains me the most. Check it out and be sure to check out all of the other sites.
\

\
Willow
\
I found this site through the lovely To Kiss the Cook. It has a lot of unique decorative items. Another site that could only be put to use if I had my own space.
\

\
Magnolia Moonlight
\
I’m a huge fan of calendars and planners. This site has a lot of cute calendars and cards :) \

\
Uncommon Goods
\
This site has all sorts of unique gifts. I like that they have collections for him, her, couples, and babies.
\

\
Alpha
\
This is a site directed toward men. I know there might be some guys who read this so I didn’t want to leave you all out. There’s a lot of cool gear on here for the men in your life.
\

\
Ugly Dolls
\
I don’t even know why I like this site so much. They stuff is fun, bright, and strange. What more could you ask for?

What’s in your stocking?

\

\
If you were to dig in my stocking this year, you’d find the following: The New American Medical Dictionary and Health Manual, Unnatural Death: Confessions of a Medical Examiner by Michael M. Baden, M.D., Anatomy of Fear by Jonathan Santlofer, and, by far my favorite, A Live Autopsy DVD by Gunther von Hagens, the creator of Body Worlds.
\

\
I realize some people would be grossed out and maybe even insulted that their family members knew so little about them to think they’d enjoy these things. But it’s the complete opposite! My family knew me so well that they knew I’d LOVE these gifts. I already began watching the autopsy video with my mom yesterday. Because of that, she can’t eat chicken, beef, pork or watch any deli meat get sliced for a while. The video is so very interesting though. If you could bear to watch the dissection, you’d be blown away by the amazing intricacies of the human body.
\

\
I rushed to finish reading “P.S. I Love You” so I could begin one of my new books. Oh! I almost forgot. I also got Put Your Big Girl Panties On and Deal With It by Roz Van Meter. I love the title! In addition I got a Borders gift card - bet you know where I’ll be today! I went through my wishlist on Amazon and found that at least 10 books I want are under $2 right now. So there’s a good chance I’ll be picking up some new, used books as well :) \

\
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and got plenty of normal, wonderful gifts in their stockings :)

Randomness 12.23.07

\

\
The other night my dad called and told me my aunt got the autograph of Bears Coach Lovie Smith for herself, him and his friend but not me. Admittedly I was a bit disappointed but told him as long as it wasn’t Johnny Depp it’s okay. You might want to sit down for this next bit. His reply was “Who’s Johnny Depp?” ::Insert jaw dropping here::
\

\
Johnny Depp dad! Only one of the more popular and talented actors of the last 20 years! Edward Scissorhands! Jack Sparrow! He then said “ohhh…yeah him” as if he wasn’t sure who I was talking about but wanted me to shut up. I can’t believe it! Someone on the planet doesn’t know who Johnny Depp is! Shocking….

\
Because I’m all sorts of wonderful I decided to share this fun tidbit with you all. IKEA is having a 20-60% off sale beginning 12/26 and lasting all the way until 1/21! So those of you who hate stepping foot inside of a store after Christmas you’re in luck still.
\

\
If I had my own place you know I’d be there buying anything I could get my hands on :) \

\

\
I bought myself one of those memory foam pillows that contours to your neck. Thinking this would be wonderful I couldn’t wait to sleep on it last night. But much to my dismay I had one of the most uncomfortable nights. The pillow is very firm. I thought my head would sink into that bad boy. Maybe I’m just not used to it and have to give it more time….

I’m almost done with my book! Only 100 pages left. Right now, I have a feeling the book is much, much better than the movie since it seems to be getting some bad reviews.

\
I’m not really looking forward to Christmas and New Year’s as much as other people - but I’m so excited to give out gifts this year. I think I got some pretty good ones and I want people to start using them right away. I have the hardest time holding onto a good gift. Plus I did a fantabulous wrapping job! Kitty not included :) He’s guarding the gifts:

Last but not least, the boyfriend purchased his plane ticket last night (at 12 a.m.) and I booked the hotel. He will be here for my graduation on the 5th! It’ll be an extremely short trip, of course I’m sad. But I’m really happy he’ll be here for that :) \

Bears Crush Packers

\

\
It wouldn’t be a true Sunday in Chicago without 45mph winds, a wind chill of 5, snow and a football game. To many folks complete and utter shock, the Chicago Bears completely dominated the Green Bay Packers. Can’t believe I used dominated and Chicago Bears in the same sentence when I wasn’t referring to them? Believe it!
\

\
I almost had to blame my glasses when I saw the Bears had a 13-7 lead over the Packers. I didn’t expect much else from them. There were still two quarters left and that’s plenty of time for them to screw sh*t up. Hell, two minutes is enough time! When I saw the score was 35-7 I was damn right giddy. I don’t think we’ve scored that high all season (honestly don’t know.)
\

\
Did Santa really get our plea?
\

\
Did the Bears really play that well with four injured starters? (Nate Vasher (groin), Lance Briggs (hip), Darwin Walker (elbow) and Mark Anderson (knee) Was our offense and defense actually playing football? Is Orton really that good? Or did the Packers just suck today? They’ve always scored at least 16 points in every game this season. What made today different? Can’t blame the weather can we?
\

\
Whatever the reason, the Bears played one hell of a game and got one hell of a score outta it. I can’t dance around victoriously for too much longer though because while this game gave us bragging rights over Green Bay - it doesn’t mean anything else. No playoffs in our future.
\

\
What will happen to the team come the 2008 season? Who knows. But hopefully we can expect more scores like this and less games like…well, the last 5!!
\

\
In case you were wondering how to prep for a Bears game in Chicago in December, I found this youtube video:

Pay It Forward

\

\
Recently I did a package exchange with a couple people on LiveJournal. I had a lot of fun putting together a little package full of goodies. Yesterday I was reading Binary Blonde’s blog and she wrote about joining in a “Pay It Forward” type of thing.
\

\
Here’s the jist:
\

\
The first three (3) lovely people to comment on this post will receive a gift from me in the mail. The only thing you have to do in return is post the same concept on your blog and send three (3) people (best if their strangers) a gift from you. As far as I know, there aren\’92t any rules as to when you write your post and how much you spend on the gift. Some people are sending homemade items, and some are purchasing theirs. It doesn\’92t really matter what you send. Though, as a rule of thumb, I would send something you might like to receive yourself.
\

\
I’d love to send something homemade, but I’m not crafty in the least! Unless of course you’d like an abstract painting! (This involves finger painting on canvas and calling it art) I will try my best to dig through your blog to get a feel for what it is you like and try to plan my packages accordingly.
\

\
So\’85 anyone want to play along? It should be fun!
