It’s Monday morning and I am trying to catch up on all the blogs I’ve missed over the weekend. I’m also trying to catch up on TV shows! I missed all the good stuff last week. Does anybody know if Scrubs was on last week? I don’t think so, but I’d like to be sure.

I just wanted to share a quick recap of my holiday with everyone since most people already have. I’m just a bit delayed.
\
\
The boyfriend showed up 30 minutes early Wednesday night. The one night I need a plane to be delayed or at least on time, it’s early! That’s okay though. We got dinner at Applebees because we’re pretty easy to please. When we woke up Thursday morning, we saw a nice coating of snow over most of the cars in the parking lot. This scared me because I’m not ready for snow. He was excited mostly because he lives down south where snow is a rarity.

We went to my aunt’s house for Thanksgiving dinner and I think everything went pretty great. Everyone seemed to like him, as I knew they would. We ate too much, of course, but continued eating anyway. We made a quick stop at my dad’s friend’s place to say hello. This is where I met the “step mom.” I’m still not quite sure what to make of that. But my dad liked the boyfriend as well. I feel bad that after 17-ish months they’re just meeting him, but it’s okay. At least they met him!

Friday we drove to Michigan. I’m surprised how quickly it went. I’m also a bit surprised how much colder it was! There was even snow! The hotel room was awesome. The bed was huuuuuuuge and fluffy. I could have stayed in there for an entire day all snuggled up. We went to his brother’s house for some turkey leftovers before heading to an MSU hockey game. His niece and nephew were adorable. They seemed to really like me and I loved that. I haven’t played with little kids in so long. I forgot how cute they can be.

Saturday we had some lunch with his brother, sister-in-law and the kids before going to cut down a Christmas tree. I didn’t know people still had real ones. It was pretty exciting for me. It was much too cold though. The boyfriend and I got some hot chocolate and I couldn’t even keep it in the cup I was holding because I was shivering too much. They picked out a pretty nice tree though. Just the right size. I think the kids really enjoyed the experience as well. Later that night we watched “Wedding Crashers” with Sobe’s boyfriend Vince

Sunday, we woke up late thanks to my fault alarm clock. But we had just enough time for some pancakes with his family before heading back to Chicago. His niece had to use the bathroom and began pulling off her training pants (she’s 2). Her mom tried closing the door, but she told her “I don’t need privacy.” Afterwards she came out sans pants. I guess this is pretty normal when you have kids, but I thought it was funny and cute. It amazes me how well she speaks for a two-year-old.

We made the long drive back to Chicago along with people heading to the Bears vs. Broncos game yesterday. We had a pretty good talk at the airport that left me feeling a bit more comfortable and confident in my relationship. Of course, it’s always hard to say goodbye and I didn’t handle it well. I’m a crier. But we’re hoping he’ll be here for my graduation in January so our time apart shouldn’t be too long.

I hope all of your weekends were great and please have a pleasant Monday!
