Another trip to Borders!
I wasn’t going to buy a lot…but I ended up doing so (of course). Two of my books were on the “Buy one, get one 50% off” table, so that’s good. And I have to admit…the covers really drew me in. Damn those clever cover artists!
1. Winkie by Clifford Chase

It’s a story about a stuffed bear, Winkie, who wills himself to life only to end up on the wrong side of America’s War on Terror. He is mistaken for a terrorist mastermind and put on trial. The book includes mugshots of Winkie as well. How could I NOT be sucked into this book?!
2. Forget About It by Caprice Crane.

I love Caprice Crane. I read her previous book Stupid and Contagious almost a year ago and loved it. I have been waiting for another book of hers to come out. The book is about a woman who has a not-so-optimal life, gets injured and fakes amnesia. Faking amnesia helps her dump the crappy boyfriend, trump her crappy boss and turn the tables around on her family. This book could suck…but the neon green cover sucked me in.
3. Charmed Thirds by Megan McCafferty.

Okay, so this may have been a pretty bad impulse buy for a couple of reasons:
- I already have a typically girly book (as posted above)
- Lately I’ve been reading more scientific and educational books; this makes me feel silly.
- I’m beginning to realize this book is a third part in a series.
Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings preceded this book. And now that I searched for those, I discovered that Fourth Comings is also available.
Of course I wouldn’t start a series in order! Part of me is wanting to purchase the first two on Amazon (used) so I don’t feel lost while reading the one I bought. We’ll put this book on hold for a while!

Well, you’ve just helped nail down one of the Christmas books I’m buying my wife. WINKIE looks brilliant, just the sort of thing that would appeal to her. My thanks.
