It’s unfortunate that my first experience at a spa was a wax. But I must say I’m proud that I finally went through with that. Not the most pleasurable experience…but an experience indeed.
I went to Spa Space on Canal Street and I could not be happier. I was nervous that I’d get there and the people would be rude, the place would look sketchy, etc.
But the atmosphere was VERY soothing and relaxing. A lot of greens, which is wonderful because it’s my favorite color. The woman who worked with me was pleasant, friendly and very calming. It was my first time so she was extra gentle with me.
Spa Space is also participating in the Pretty in Pink package deal. So if you’re in Chicago and looking for a great place to go relax…definitely check out Spa Space.
RF now has its factories in China (who doesn’t?) and many of my co-workers go to China for meetings and holidays. Recently J went to Hong Kong and brought us all back some moon cakes.

Moon cakes, as I’ve learned, are used during the Chinese Moon Festival which takes place on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. It’s also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival. The cakes are a kind of cookie with fillings of sugar, fat, sesame, walnut, lotus seeds, the yoke of preserved eggs, ham, dried flower petals or other material. The surface of the food is patterned with clouds, the moon, the rabbit.
Many people in the office didn’t like it which makes me skeptical about trying it. I also think it’s really pretty and don’t want to ruin it. Oddly it smells a lot like peanut butter so I should be tempted to eat it.
Here’s a much better picture of a moon cake:

It’s taken me this long to bring up this past Sunday’s Bears game - the one in which Grossman completed only 15 out of 32 passes for 195 yards while throwing three interceptions…unlike Romo who lead the Cowboys to a dominating 34-10 victory. Chicago fans want a new QB. Well, as of today, dreams do come true. Brian Griese will start in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. As of today Grossman has been benched.
I feel bad for the guy. It’s not JUST HIS fault. But a strong QB is an essential ingredient to a strong team. This is also the final year of Grossman’s contract. He needed to prove to the Bears that he’s worth a long-term commitment. Do I sense a free agent?
Apple, Suri and Zahara…I’ve heard weird names before. But nothing prepared me for the Cubs fan who named their son Wrigley Fields.
Chicago woman Nailah Franklin has been missing for a week. Her family will be putting up a website with her information soon.
An 85-year-old man has been accused of killing his wife. His children call it a “mercy killing.”
So Tay Zonday actually posted a “vlog.” It’s weird to hear him talk!

I wanted to make a quick update about a post I made about Reba the missing dog.

As it turns out, an anonymous woman brought Reba into the Anti-Cruelty Society and has since been reunited with Tom, her owner. The Anti-Cruelty also told him that Reba can receive free care at their facilities.
I’m glad that Reba was okay ![]()

Other than being a great movie from the 80s it’s a great way feel good while helping others.
Pretty in Pink is a 31-day, $31 spa and salon treatment deal presented by Pretty City to raise awareness and funds for Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization.
Beginning October 1 and lasting until the 31st you can book spa and salon appointments for only $31. Check out the website to see which salons and spas are participating in your area. Lucky for us Chicagoans there’s quite the selection.
Treatments range from waxing, massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and chemical peels. I’ve already booked my appointment!
Be sure when you are making an appointment that you specify you are booking a “Pretty in Pink” appointment. If not, you will not receive the discounted price and no funds will go toward Y-Me.
So go ahead and pamper yourself and help a great cause!
I didn’t know Chris Crocker (the “Leave Britney Alone” guy) was getting his own TV show. I haven’t heard confirmation of this either. But I kind of found this man’s reaction to it funny. I don’t think Crocker deserves his own show. If he does manage to get one, I don’t think it’ll do well. There are plenty of YouTubers out there who are MUCH more deserving of getting their own show. This guy is just a waste of time.

If you frequent YouTube, I’m sure you’ve seen Venetian Princess by now. I never really got into her videos, though I knew she was pretty talented.
Her new video is great. There’s no way I couldn’t share this with everyone.
She wrote a letter in song form to Angelina and Brad wishing they’d adopt her.
Watch and enjoy:
