A Windy Day In the Windy City

by freeandflawed on June 7, 2007

Chicago isn’t normally all that windy in my opinion. Some months are worse than others. But when someone from out of town visits me, they usually say “Where’s the wind?” Sometimes, they come on a good day and complain about the wind. Why am I talking about wind? Because it’s eff’in windy. My hair was cute this morning. But the walk from my car to my office changed that. It looks like two birds were fighting in my hair. It’s crazy.

So after I put some cream cheese on my bagel and stirred my caramel swirl latte I checked the weather. Sure enough there is a high wind advisory from 10 a.m. to midnight for Chicago (among other Illinois cities). The National Weather Service expects gusts reaching 50 mph with severe storms reaching the city by this evening. In addition to the crazy winds and severe storms joining those winds, it will also be the hottest day in Chicago to date with temps reaching far up into the 90s. It will be very hot and very humid. Close the windows and crank up the AC folks!

The wind has already claimed it’s first victim. ComEd is suspecting the wind is the reason for a power outage in the south side of Chicago this morning. Wind gusts at O’Hare International Airport this morning were already reaching 30 m.p.h., according to the National Weather Service.

Hold on to your hats and keep those skirts down. I don’t wanna see any bits flashed ladies! Let’s not be whores :)
