While doing some reading this morning I came across a post about the Warped Tour 07 presale. Curious on who was playing this year I checked out the list of bands.
I attended Warped Tour 2006 and 2003 (I think). I wasn’t terribly excited about the bands attending either year. Usually out of the 40 or so, there are about 6 or 7 worth seeing in my opinion. Last year I traveled from southern Illinois up to Milwaukee, Wisconsin just to attend the tour on a weekend (who’s idea was it to put it on a weekday anyway?)
Sure it’s fun to spend all day outside at a concert (assuming there’s cooperative weather), drink, hang with friends, spend money and listen to music. But….maybe I’m getting old or maybe I’m just getting less accepting of these emo kids….I’m tired of spending 7-8 hours in the sun with hundreds of tragically emo and punk kids. Especially those ones who refuse to wear anything but black. It’s the middle of July…it’s like 88 degrees outside…maybe 94 with the humidity, and you’re dressed in black from head to toe….you’re even wearing long sleeves! Why?! You’re not cooler for doing so. I don’t feel your pain by doing so. The only statement you’re making is that you’re retarded. So what’s the point?
Last year I saw a few kids there with their parents. What could be more embarrassing? “Hey, I’m too young to go to a concert by myself, so let me dress up in a much-too-short skirt, throw on a few layers of eyeliner, squeeze into a shirt thats too tight and hang with my parents by the main stage.” If you can’t go to a concert on your own, then don’t. Your parents don’t enjoy it….you’re probably just giving your parents more of a reason not to let you attend any after what they see at Warped Tour.
Ah…anyway…I saw this year’s list and honestly, I can’t find a single band that would make it worth me paying for a ticket, driving at least 2 hours, spending all day in the sun or rain with horribly emo children and their parents. But, just in case any of you are curious, here is this year’s band list:

A couple bands are pretty good…but certainly not enough motivation to get me out there. If I’m going to stand outside all day, it’s going to be for some good music. Not music that makes me want to cry, slit my wrists, dress in black and complain about the endless void in my heart…that infinite black abyss….for godssakes somebody give me some tacos!!!
And now for some tasteless humor at the expense of all emo kids everywhere, I provide you with a link to a funny emo video:

(For whatever reason I still cannot post youtube videos in my posts…if anyone knows how…please let me know haha!)

Music critics are like vultures that sit on the top of the hill and watch the battle. After it’s over they come down and poke the wounded. However in your case however you couldn’t bother to get off the couch.Enough said except to say I’m a 63 year old who went and loved it. It was even better than last year. Some notables were Tiger Army,Paramour,Bayside and The Vincent Black Shadow.Next year check it out I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
