I made a trip to CVS to find some cranapple juice….to my dismay they don’t have it. They have all sorts of flavored water (still don’t get that – if you want water, drink water, if you want fruit flavor, drink juice!) I ended up walking away with two of those Starbucks frappuccino vanilla mocha mumbo jumbo thingy-mah-bobbers. I didn’t go in there for coffee-related products. But Starbucks has sucked me in!
Now this is a difficult realization for me seeing as how I didn’t drink anything coffee related until I was 22 (actually about 3-4 months ago). I’m sure that by now I’ve consumed enough caffeine to make up for the years I’ve been deprived. I haven’t ventured too far out there in coffee land…I’ve stuck to the caramel lattes, caramel macchiatos, and various cold fraps. I tried expresso…um…hello! I didn’t sleep for a day after that. I don’t enjoy the taste of regular coffee though. I need some caramel…some whipped cream…something!
Do I understand the difference between a tall, grande and venti? No. Why can’t I just say small, medium or large? Why is walking into Starbucks and talking to the people there like a foreign language? And why is it so addictive?! Starbucks is my WoW (Okay, that’s a bit drastic). I’m not that bad. I’m not a fiend.
But I’m surprised at how easily I’m putting these drinks down. It took me about 3 minutes to finish that frap thingy I bought today. Since when did I like the taste?! Who knows?! Perhaps it was after the four or five I put down while in NY. Starbucks…what did you do to me? I think they put some sort of mind control serum in their drinks…that’s why they get so much business. That’s how they sucked me in.
Will I stop drinking it? No. Will I try more flavors and strange combinations? Yes. So for those two reasons alone, I damn Starbucks. (I thank it…but I hate it).
Have any of you seen Kicking and Screaming with Will Ferrel? If so, remember when Ditka made him drink coffee and he started getting hooked and soon became obsessed with the drink? Yes….yes….that will be me soon…minus the odd blue and black tiger-striped track suit
